The Global Merchant Services (GMS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express’ revenue: Merchant discount revenue. The team works closely with multiple business partners to determine the ideal pricing structure to encourage merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction. Ultimately, we drive merchant revenue and profit growth through customer-centric pricing principles, more flexible pricing architecture and innovative pricing solutions.

How will you make an impact in this role?

This Analyst position sits in the Merchant Services Asia Pacific (APAC) Pricing team within GMS Pricing and is responsible for providing analysis and support for various regional merchant negotiations as well as broad-scale pricing initiatives aimed at preserving our merchant discount rate while balancing the organization's goal for profitable charge volume and merchant expansion.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to strategic initiatives and assist to develop relevant insights critical to pricing initiatives from ideation through to initiative measurement.
  
• Manipulation of data sets to provide analysis and insights on APAC wide pricing projects.
  
• Partner with Client Management and Acquisition teams to provide strategic and analytical support on negotiations with APAC merchants.
  
• Evaluate and develop business cases for various merchant pricing scenarios and model P&L impacts.
  
• Support core central processes such as annual investment process, rate review process and pricing initiative project management.

Qualifications

• Strong aptitude for analytics. Demonstrate ability to develop sophisticated pricing models and draw value-add insights from large amounts of business data.
  
• Ability to articulate complex ideas with brevity, simplicity and impact.
  
• Ability to work under time pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  
• Highly motivated with strong sense of accountability, initiative and a “can-do” attitude.
  
• Flexibility to function in a fast-paced environment, while bringing a positive energy to the team.
  
• Quantitatively oriented and highly numerate – comfortable with thinking through the “quick math”.
  
• Problem solving, planning and analytical skills to facilitate and focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  
• High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  
• Knowledge of VBA, SAS and/or SQL an advantage.
