About the role:
The IT Desktop Support Engineer is the front line of Ampol IT on site for all our users. The role provides face-to-face support and guidance to our users in the use of all technology platforms including but not limited to computers, phones, tablets, and video conferencing facilities.
The role will ensure that on site operational support is efficient and effective, whilst continually improving customer experience with IT services. This role will also provide escalated support to the more junior team members and on-site assistance in the event of an incident requiring physical or technical intervention across multiple sites.
Key responsibilities:
- Investigate technical issues to determine root cause and provide resolutions
- Coordinate with all support teams in IT, both internally and externally to resolve issues
- Identify major incidents, ensuring that these are raised through the standard channels for analysis and resolution
- Collaborate with the IT Service Desk Manager to identify trends and provide feedback on processes and procedures to reduce incident volume
- Provide on-site support to server and networking teams in the event of an incident requiring physical intervention
- Manage deployment of assets to end users and the refresh/rebuild process.
- Promote use of the Ampol IT ServiceNow Portal for self-service requests and ticket tracking
- Proactively seek to improve IT services and customer experience
About you
You will be a strong team player with proven ability to motivate and achieve team goals while working autonomously.
As a problem solver, you will demonstrate the ability to understand business requirements, assess technical needs, provide advice and analysis to relevant stakeholders. As a strong communicator, you will build effective relationships to ensure a high level of collaboration is maintained across the business.
Key skills and experience:
- Tertiary degree (IT, Engineering) is desirable, but not essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience in End User Computing Support roles
- Proven experience providing IT support in a large and complex environment, facilitating the resolution of escalated issues, and having an ability to accurately identify and raise emerging issues
- Experience using MDM/Intune Administration and ServiceNow
- Excellent communication and proven experience in building relationships
- Knowledge of IT Service Management Processes, focusing on Incident management and Service request fulfilment
- Ability to manage time and workload independently while managing multiple priorities simultaneously to deliver quality output
