The role:
Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity now available for a Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial team as part of the broader National Development Group, Retail.
This role reports to the Commercial Manager and you will join a diverse team with a strong culture of collaboration and support. We are looking for a team player, agile and comfortable working in a dynamic environment who embraces change. Based in Alexandria, car parking is available, and this is a Hybrid role with work from home options.
The role focuses on continuous improvement and has wide exposure across Divestment and Property Portfolio Management teams. For individuals with a curiosity and interest in Power BI/ Dashboards, we will invest in developing these skills for the right candidate.
Key Duties:
- Provide commercial and analytical support to support focusing on the key strategic areas of real estate optimisation and retail site optimisation.
- Accountable for the reporting on Property's program of capital works including analysis of forecasts and budgets to help drive accuracy on costs and milestones.
- Assist with capital and budget plans each year.
- Support the group's Project Management Office (PMO). You will help consolidate Property projects and ensure that they are tracked accurately to enable insightful reporting to management.
- Contribute to the improved visibility and understanding of NDG performance through supporting the preparation and ongoing evaluation of monthly and quarterly reporting packs.
- Support the improvement of data capture and reporting including Power BI/Dashboards functionality to ensure data is accurately represented.
- Develop as NDG’s representative to Retail Finance where required, for matters such as capital allocation and financial impacts of network decisions.
About you:
You will have solid experience within a commercial and accounting or finance related position, where you have had exposure to non-financial operational issues and an understanding of key business profit drivers.
You will also have strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to analyse spreadsheets, and be capable of building reporting, combined with the ability to think commercially, to support our optimisation strategy and evaluate investment decisions.
Key to your success in this role will be your ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders. You will have a can-do attitude, sound project management and interpersonal skills along with the ability to initiate and successfully implement change.
- Degree qualified in Commerce, Financial Accounting or related business discipline
- 5 years’ experience in a Finance, Commercial, Accounting or similar role
- High competency in accessing and using data extracts to support analysis
- Property Industry experience or experience in a large business with a significant site network is desirable
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to explain concepts to a wide range of customers and stakeholders
- Commercial acumen with the ability to solve both structured and unstructured problems
- Strong MS Office Skills (including Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
- Demonstrated team player
