About the role
Joining the Group Tax team, you will lead Ampol’s income tax reporting and compliance function, with a focus on management of the end-to-end income tax process. Reporting to the Head of Tax, the role will work heavily with the team’s Tax Advisors and Tax Analysts.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the Tax Effect Accounting processes for the Ampol Group (noting, the December year end process occurs over January and February). This will include review of tax calculations prepared by others (including foreign jurisdictions), analysis of movements in ETRs, liaison with the Controllership team and managing the review by Ampol’s external auditors.
- Preparation of tax notes for financial reports and input into Audit Committee papers.
- Managing the annual Tax Return preparation and review process for the Australian TCG and stand-alone entities.
- Managing PAYG instalment calculations and periodic tax payment forecasting.
- Managing the preparation and review process of the annual FBT returns.
- Managing relationships with the Australian Taxation Office and assisting with any reviews.
- From time to time, provision of tax advice to business.
About you
The successful candidate will have great technical, analytical and communication skills to utilise when undertaking tax reporting and compliance activities and providing tax advice which demonstrates an understanding of the business’s commercial strategic objectives. Recent hands-on tax reporting experience for a corporate group is critical to the role. Prior experience with tax technology tools would be highly regarded. We are looking for someone who can work independently and as a team, and who is pro-active in driving process improvements where they see opportunities to do so.
Key skills and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Law
- Masters of Tax or Law or other postgraduate qualifications preferable (CPA/CA)(highly desirable)
- Extensive experience in a tax role ideally within a large corporate
- Experience in supervising tax professionals and ability to manage a team of tax specialists
- Broad experience within income tax matters
