About the role

The Engineering Operations Lead is responsible for providing national oversight and support for the assets owned and operated by the Future Energy division of Ampol. This includes overall responsibility for strategic maintenance and capital planning, management of improvement programs, development and maintenance of standards, support for project design, implementation, and commissioning, providing subject matter expertise, and support for troubleshooting and maintenance activities for a division that is experiencing a lot of growth within the Ampol business.

Key responsibilities

  • Review of equipment and installation design from a safety, compliance, reliability, and performance aspect
  • Assessment of electrical systems and determination of system end of life.
  • Review of technical compliance of proposed electrical system designs.
  • Developing design options for consideration on projects.
  • Providing direction on design philosophy to be used by the engineering team.
  • Advice on construction strategies.
  • Contractor and consultant selection
  • Negotiation with internal and external stakeholders
  • Development of testing and maintenance work scopes
  • Approval of repair methods that may differ from standard.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation standards for electrical engineering, safety, risk management and risk management systems with demonstrable project management and technical documentation skills with a strategic orientation identifying opportunities for change.

Key skills and experience

  • Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering design
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and standards for electrical engineering and safety
  • Experience in Renewables, Petroleum or Chemical Process Industry (preferred)
  • Experience in preparing and managing detailed project work breakdown structures and scheduling
  • Good public speaking & presentation skills (communicating with impact)
  • Conceptual thinking and complex problem solving
