About the role
As part of the Ampol Group Strategy & Corporate Development team, you will play a key role in supporting strategic initiatives across the business.
You will support the development, design, alignment and execution of the Group’s strategy and planning across divisions.
In addition, you will support corporate development activities such as M&A, partnerships and other key strategic and commercial initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic and analytical problem solving and analysis to inform and guide the development, monitoring, refresh and execution of overall group strategy.
- M&A support for inorganic growth opportunities, including creating and owning valuation models, financial analysis and insight and advice on material transactions.
- Provide timely and high-quality evaluations of strategic opportunities, including ad hoc commercial and strategic analysis.
- Develop and maintain a network of relevant relationships outside of Ampol to keep ahead of the curve on market trends.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have gained outstanding market knowledge through experience in a top professional service, consulting, advisory or a similar sized ASX listed organisation.
You are an effective problem solver and project manager, overseeing the progress of multiple projects to build and deliver results. This includes structuring problems and defining the plans to solve them, injecting strategic and innovative thinking into the issues that the business faces.
You will also have a good understanding of financial concepts & analysis methods, with the ability to work with financial statements and analysis to combine both strategic and financial insight into clear and meaningful recommendations.
This position sits at the Ampol Group level; therefore, you must hold the ability to work well within a team environment and build strong working relationships to build credibility and trust across Ampol’s divisions.
Key skills and experience
- Tertiary qualification in business, economics, finance, mathematics, statistics or engineering
- Up to 5 years of experience with minimum 2 years experience in a top tier strategy consultancy, professional services, investment bank or corporate strategy team
- Proven track record of playing a key role in strategy, M&A execution and / or complex commercial partnerships / investment.
- Superior skills in strategic and financial analysis (advanced-level Excel & PowerPoint), with a real passion for translating analysis into informed decision making.
- Strong written communication skills, with ability to summarise complex topics.
- Advanced project management, time management and prioritisation skills to drive significant workstreams / projects.
- Demonstrated experience / understanding of the downstream oil sector (or tangential industries such as FMCG retailing) or energy industries would be an advantage.
