Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold operations. In late 2020 a new satellite open pit was approved (Golden Delicious) which will supplement the large-scale underground operation that employs more than 650 people, and produces approximately 260,000 ounces of gold per annum. Ongoing investment in underground and regional exploration at Sunrise Dam has extended the mine life to 2031, with the opportunity for further extensions. Operating on an attractive 8/6(or variant thereof) fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.
We are now seeking a Production Metallurgist to join our Processing team. This permanent role is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Accountable to the Superintendent: Metallurgy, this role is accountable for all metallurgical activities associated with the operation of the processing plant.

The main tasks of the role include:
- Exhibit a high degree of safety and environmental awareness and promote safe systems of work and environmentally responsible work practices.
- Have a sound knowledge of the WA Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
- Discharge obligations under Section 44 of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act.
- Provision of technical support to operations to ensure the required production and metallurgical efficiency.
- Liaise closely with internal peers including mining and geology departments
- Manage internal and external laboratory test work associated with daily plant monitoring, projects and improvement activities
- Daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical accounting
- Producing accurate, timely reports and forecasts on metallurgical performance vs budget
- Daily monitoring and management of plant performance, recoveries and efficiencies
- Coordinate and gather data and information for metallurgical performance reports
- Prepare CAPEX proposals for projects
- Gather and prepare data and information for budget processes including production, costs and projects
- Development and review of procedures and work instructions associated with laboratory, gold room and metallurgical tasks in the processing plant.
- Contribute to maintenance of the process plant.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience with respect to tertiary crushing, ball milling, CIL/CIP, elution, electrowinning, smelting, gold and sulphide flotation, high intensity fine grinding, high rate thickening, and tailings disposal.
- Experience in site-based laboratory work
- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, Minerals / Chemical Engineering, or Mineral Processing.
- A minimum of 2 years professional experience within the mining industry and gold processing plants
- Incident investigation (ICAM or similar)
- Current WA Drivers Licence
- Able to work FIFO, 8/6 roster
- Existing and ongoing Permanent Australian Working rights.(Mandatory)
