We are now seeking a Geology Technician to join our Mine Geology team at the Tropicana Gold Mine on a permanent basis. Offered on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
Accountable to the Mine Geology Supervisor, this multi-skilled and dynamic role is responsible for providing support to the multi-disciplined Mine Geology team through the allocation of tasks and resources as prioritised and directed by the Supervisor or delegated Leading Hands.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
- Carry out weekly stock takes on consumables and supplies
- Ensure that all consumables including pre-numbered bags are available for the drill contractor and laboratory
- Operate field computers, generate, update and maintain geological data files
- Operate and maintain equipment including light vehicles, paint packs
- Carry out Field QAQC as instructed by the Grade Control drill planning work. This includes the weighing of samples in the field, capturing duplicate samples off the rig, weighing and submitting for analysis as well as mass balance test work programs.
- Carry out Ore Mark ups in pit
- Install and pick up Blast Monitors or Blast Vector Indicators (BVI) for blast monitoring activities
- Prepare samples for analysis in the onsite lab
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proactive approach to hazard and incident reporting, workplace inspections.
- Can do attitude
- Familiarity with computers including basic Microsoft Office skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Capable of developing and maintaining working relationships across a broad cross section of AngloGold Ashanti’s mining personnel, consultants, contractors and researchers
- A WA C class (manual) drivers licence
- Existing Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
- A National Police Clearance
Desirable skills/experience
- 4WD vehicle operation
- Maintaining stock levels via inventory control
- High Risk Work Licence LF (Forklift)
- Use of GPS equipment
- Cert II and / or III Geosciences and Field Practices, or Cert III in Mining Exploration desirable
- Experience in using SAP software desirable
