We are now seeking a Safety and Health Specialist to join our Greenfields Exploration team in our Perth CBD office. Accountable to the Manager Australia Exploration.

This is a Perth based role with regular travel required to remote exploration sites throughout Australia.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide professional health and safety (H & S) advice
  • Support a proactive H & S culture within the team
  • Support implementation and enforcement of exploration protocols and procedures
  • Monitor H & S metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and resolve emerging issues
  • Review and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the HSE management system
  • Complete statutory and internal AGA reporting requirements
  • Conduct and facilitate emergency drills, incident investigations and hazard and risk assessments
  • Model behaviour that is consistent with the AGA H & S Vision, Values and Procedures

About You

People are at the heart of everything we do. We want you to collaborate with us, share your ideas and feel confident to challenge the status quo. To be considered, we would like to see you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in safety and health related field or other relevant/complementary qualifications.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining, resource, construction or heavy industry role.
  • An understanding of safety and health management systems and their practical implementation
  • Practical knowledge of working in hazardous industries with the capacity to readily identify, assess and provide professional direction in relation to the exploration risk profile
  • Broad based knowledge and understanding of hazards and impacts associated with exploration, mining operations or other high-risk industry
  • Self-motivated, well organised with attention to detail and adaptable, with high initiative and excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A sound understanding of applicable legislation
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Medically fit to work in remote locations with limited medical facilities and able to maintain relevant vaccination requirements
  • Ability to adapt to remote working and living conditions
  • WA C Class Driver’s License or equivalent (manual)
  • Willingness to undertake first aid training
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia
