About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and innovative compliance chemist to improve and streamline quality control and regulatory compliance activities for the Centre for Accelerator Science Chemistry group for a 12 month placement. You will alsoassist in chemical preparation of environmental samples for AMS analyses (an ultra-sensitive isotopic analysis technique), and in the development of new analytical methods across all components of the capability including radiocarbon dating, cosmogenic isotope tracing and nuclear fallout bomb-pulse dating to meet research and commercial user demand, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

  • Improve and develop regulatory compliance documentation and quality management systems for complex sample preparation processes.
  • Plan and implement sample processing innovations of new and existing methods through collaborative experimentation and testing.
  • Apply analytical chemistry expertise to support standardised sample processing (both routine and non-routine) of user projects across all aspects of the AMS chemistry facility.
  • Contribute to improvement and development of laboratory information management systems.
  • Train and support facility users in routine AMS laboratory methods, quality control procedures and regulatory/safety controls
