The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Strategy Analyst to join our Strategy and Commercial team in Sydney CBD or Brisbane CBD office on a Permanent Full Time basis.
Reporting to the General Manager – Strategic & Market Analysis, you will be supporting the design, execution, and governance of APA’s corporate strategy and modelling and quantitative analysis of energy markets ensuring alignment to the organisation’s vision and risk framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Corporate Strategy
- Supporting the design, implementation and governance of APA’s strategy development methodology
- Tracking and reporting of strategic initiatives, coordinating the necessary ExCom and Board presentations and approvals
- Evaluating the suitability of the APA assets and external investment opportunities
- Conducting and coordinating relevant external research and benchmarking studies
- Providing market monitoring and assist in the preparation of dashboards for ELT and Board
- Providing ad hoc in house strategic advice and support on M&A projects as required
- Market and Commercial Analysis and Evaluation
- Performing market demand and end customer analysis
- Analysing data within APA (e.g. EC Grid) to understand the risks and opportunities presented by immediate (contractual customer) and end user (end customer) behaviour
- Managing external data and modelling providers and ensuring efficient procurement
- Providing internally consistent views on the competitiveness of different forms of energy.
- Providing analysis of the financial impact and sensitivities of investment opportunities and commercial contracts
- Using market insights within S&C to originate and monetise new project and existing customer contract ideas and support customer initiatives
- Commercial Strategy
- Analysing customer, competitors, product & services suite to identify opportunities for revenue generation and revenue forecasts
- Understanding asset and system constraints & opportunities
- Providing commercial expertise in relation to new or emerging business and commercial input into the development of economic regulatory strategy
- Performing customer due diligence and analysis
- Carbon Offsets - Contributing towards the development and execution of APA’s carbon offset strategic execution plan
- Acting as a centralised source of pooled market knowledge and business assumptions
Your background
- Tertiary qualification and relevant work experience in related discipline
- Extensive knowledge and experience managing a broad range of strategy and development activities for mid-large size organisations
- Proven experience in developing and implementing process improvement and system optimisation strategies to deliver organisational compliance and efficiency
- Essential Capabilities:Big Picture Thinking, Customer Focus, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Attention to Detail and Commercial Acumen
