The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Process Safety Engineer to join our Engineering and Planning team in Melbourne, Brisbane, or Perth on 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
Reporting to the Team Lead Process Safety Systems, you will play a key role in the practical application of the process safety strategy developed at APA as process safety systems of work (such as MoC, alarm, incident and investigation management), building upon and using the available process safety understanding and learning to uplift APA capability, and to engage APA operations with visible process safety leadership to ensure assets are operating within process safety risk targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the team to uplift and embed the process safety systems into APA operations to meet the process safety strategy requirements.
- Support the team to administer and coordinate the process safety systems of work and the process safety requirements in other safety management systems.
- Support the delivery of improvement initiatives and projects (such as the PHA Uplift Program) to improve availability and access to process safety information.
- Support the continuous improvement and reporting of process safety KPI’s.
- Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure the key barriers from the operational safety cases or process hazard assessments are consistently identified, always ready to operate and the risks managed when they are impaired.
Your background
- Tertiary qualification relating to Engineering with proven experience in process safety (Oil & Gas or Energy industry).
- Proven experience in working with various operating asset stakeholders and improving operations processes.
- Demonstrated contribution towards delivery of operational projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of process safety management processes such as incident reporting and investigation.
- Experience in managing risk in energy operations including knowledge of the various process hazard analysis.
- Working knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety legislative requirements and applicable energy industry standards.
About the Team
The Process Safety team is part of the wider Engineering and Planning team that support APA's Operation. The process safety team collaborate and partner with other teams to ensure that APA is operating within the target process risk. We now have an opportunity for an early career engineer wanting to further strengthen their understanding and application of process safety to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract.
