The Opportunity

We now have an opportunity available for a Senior Technical Officer – Electrical & Instrumentation to join our Operations team based in Geelong on a full time fixed term basis for 12 months.

Reporting to the Regional Manager Melbourne, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of high pressure natural gas pipeline assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance and safe operations of assets related to our Gas Transmission Pipeline. Including Gas Turbines, Metering Equipment, Process Heaters, Aftercoolers, Valves and regulators.
  • Undertake programmed maintenance activities for remote monitoring control systems, pneumatic and process control instrumentation and associated power and distribution equipment
  • Able to work within a Maintenance systems such as Maximo or SAP.
  • Recommend maintenance/system improvements for complex system faults to eliminate faults and improve equipment reliability. Contribute to the positive safety culture and demonstrate safety leadership
  • Install new equipment and equipment modifications to enhance operational effectiveness and meet customer requirements ensuring compliance to standards.

Your background

  • Trade qualification – Electrical and Instrumentation (preferred)
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of same or similar industry is desirable but not essential
  • Able to commit to rotating on call roster once every four weeks
  • Commitment to safety of you, your team mates, community, environment and the process
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability to changing priorities to maintain operations.

About the Team

APA, Victorian Operations western region have positions available to join a highly skill team of trades people working to maintain and operate various equipment including valves and actuators, pipelines and Gas turbines across this region. The work is varied across several sites including Geelong, Iona (Port Campbell) and other regional Vic Western sites. This is an exciting time to join a capable and enthusiastic team to support Melbourne’s energy infrastructure into the future.
