The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Pipeline / Risk Engineer to join us in our Engineering and Planning team in Brisbane or Melbourne on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
Reporting to the Risk and Engineering Services Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of pipeline assets by applying professional engineering judgement, facilitating risk based mitigation and ensuring compliance to relevant standards, legislation, guidelines and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering technical support to pipelines and linear assets for operations
- Ensure compliance to Australian Standards (specifically AS 2885), pipeline licences, legislation, industry guidelines and codes of practice
- Facilitate critical risk assessment workshops and own the asset’s Safety Management Study
- Prepare compliance documentation to AS 2885, in particular ensuring fracture control plans are adequate and isolation plans are current
- Perform pipeline design calculations in accordance with AS 2885 following engineering processes
- Provide input to new pipeline projects by performing design reviews and attending workshops
Your background
- Experience with pipeline engineering and technical risk & ALARP management (preferred)
- Energy industry knowledge and experience specific to operational support engineering (preferred)
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering admitting to Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia (mandatory)
- Chartered Professional Engineer (preferred)
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland, if practising in this state (preferred)

The risk & engineering services team provides core engineering support to APA’s significant energy infrastructure portfolio, as well as ensuring ongoing public safety and security of supply through effective operational support, compliance, threat & risk management.
