The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Electrical Technician to join our join our Power team in Directlink Bungalara on a full time fixed term basis for 16 weeks.
Reporting to the Team Leader HV Interconnectors Operations and Maintenance, you will play a key role in Managing contractors onsite to complete the preventive maintenance and breakdowns where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise contractors
- Checking over contractor SWMS/JSEA to ensure they are relevant and compliant
- Participate in planning of all aspects of preventative and corrective maintenance
- Ensure permitting, safety documentation are completed and suitable for the task
- Organise and order equipment and materials that are required
- Ensure planned maintenance schedules and regimes are effective, efficient and suitable
- Carry out site audits and contractor audits to ensure compliance and safe systems of work
- Ability to adapt and overcome unforeseen issues and events with minimal guidance and the capability to make decisions that best suit the business needs and requirements.
Your background
- A high level of computer skills
- Understanding and access to Maximo work orders
- Understanding and Access to safeguard +
- Good interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work with a wide variety of maintenance personnel, contract, and internal, and with people at all levels
- Unrestricted Driver’s License suitable for operation of a vehicle not exceeding 4.5 tonnes GVM and carrying no more than 12 adults
About the Team
The Directlink system interconnects the New South Wales and Queensland electricity grids through six underground HVDC 80kV bipolar cables.
Three HVDC Light converters are located at each end of the Mullumbimby and Bungalora Converter Stations. The Mullumbimby Converter Station is located 330 Wilson's Creek Road, Laverty's Gap, approximately 3klms from the Mullumbimby town site. The Bungalora Converter Station is located at 980 Terranora Road, Bungalora, approximately 4klms from the Essential Energy Terranora Sub-station. Each of the three HVDC systems (converter station at each end and the bipolar cable) is independent of the other two. Hence, the system can be run while one or two systems are not transmitting power.
