The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our Infrastructure Projects - Design team in Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth on a 15 Month Full Time Fixed Term
Reporting to the Lead E&I Engineer, you will play a key role in providing leadership, management and technical input for E&I design works within the Stay In Business (SIB) capex project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design of E&I systems
- Take ownership for technical delivery of the project design objectives
- Assurance of engineering design quality while performing checker and approver roles across a variety of projects
- Manage the design progress and providing regular updates on design schedule and cost
- Work effectively with a minimal degree of supervision, providing mentoring to non-senior team members of the team
- Ensure the highest level of technical advice is provided for the design for successful operation of APA assets.
Your Background
- Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent;
- NER or CPEng preferred
- Extensive experience in gas production, gas transmission, petrochemical or other relevant industries
- Sound practical knowledge of the requirements of Australian and International standards for E&I systems
- Demonstrated experience in the design and installation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas to the AS 60079 suite of standards
- Experience in industrial control systems, PLCs, RTUs, safety instrumented systems and devices (preferred)
- Experience in participating and/or leading HAZOP, CHAZOP and LOPA workshops and other risk assessments (preferred)

To support operations, APA invests in a program of “stay-in-business” capital works as part of each asset’s lifecycle plan. The Infrastructure Projects team builds physical projects that minimise risks, reduce costs and improve the operability of APA’s assets.
Infrastructure Projects is a passionate multi-discipline design and delivery team, covering engineering and project management. The team delivers projects across APA’s asset base from natural gas transmission, power generation, renewables and electricity transmission. These projects ensure APA’s assets keep up with expectations of customers, the community and APA’s vision to be world class.
