Senior E&I Designer
The Opportunity
At APA, our purpose is simple: to strengthen communities through responsible energy.
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior E&I Designer to join our talented team in Brisbane, on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Team Leader-E&I Design, you will be responsible for designing and drafting Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control System deliverables across APA’s 1000+ gas and renewables facilities.
The Senior E&I Designer will be required to take each project design, or small upgrade, from concept through to IFC (Issued For Construction) using BIM processes, database driven software and 3D modelling tools (where applicable) to generate the agreed list of E&I project deliverables, on time and on budget. This role requires the successful candidate to ensure their deliverables meet APA’s operational requirements and adhere to our safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Preliminary and Approved detailed design drawings, and associated documentation, for construction and/or tender purposes
- Produce updated As-Built drawings from red-line mark-ups (RLMs), to not only support our plant operators, maintenance teams and field technicians, but to assist maintaining APA’s asset integrity over the asset lifecycle of each plant
- Proficiency, (or prior experience), with E&I design software, databases, 2D AutoCAD, 3D modelling software and a willingness to learn APA’s cloud-based drawing management systems
- As a member of our Digital Engineering (DE) team the successful candidate will support the Project Engineering Lead (PEL), Design Engineers and fellow DE team members as and when required
- Collaborate with on-site construction teams to provide sketches or design modifications, as required
Your Background
- Demonstrated experience working as a Senior E&I Designer using CAD systems (2D). Ideally the candidate will have some 3D modelling experience running cable ladders in a live model (preferred, but not mandatory)
- Solid understanding of Autodesk Vault, AutoCAD and Navisworks tools
- Experience using the Elecdes Design Suite (EDS), including Instrument Manager, or other similar E&I design software.
- Excellent communication skills, effective Stakeholder relationships, ability to work under pressure, demonstrated attention to detail and respectful behaviour towards your fellow workers will all be highly regarded.
