The Opportunity

At APA, our purpose is to secure Australia’s energy future. We’re not doing it alone. We’re doing it with our customers and communities as Australia’s energy infrastructure partner, a role our unique experience and expertise positions us to play.

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Investment Accountant to join our Finance team in our Sydney CBD or Adelaide office on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Investments Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the financial management of APA’s investments and joint ventures (JVs). This role is responsible for overseeing the full finance lifecycle across a portfolio of investments - from financial reporting and budgeting through to board reporting, forecasting and technical accounting advice.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and JV partners, you will provide high-quality financial insights, ensure strong financial governance and contribute to the ongoing performance and transparency of APA’s investment portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end finance activities for a portfolio of joint ventures and investments, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis.

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including providing analysis and commentary for management and board reporting.

  • Coordinate budgeting and planning processes for assigned investments, supporting longer-term financial forecasts and strategic planning.

  • Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal financial policies.

  • Maintain and oversee financial systems, general ledger integrity and financial controls to support accurate and consistent reporting.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and JV partners to provide financial insights, support decision-making and drive strong financial governance.

Your background

  • CA or CPA qualified with extensive experience in accounting, finance or investment-related roles.

  • Strong technical accounting capability with experience interpreting and applying accounting standards.

  • Experience delivering end-to-end finance responsibilities, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.

  • Ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights for senior stakeholders and non-finance audiences.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective working relationships internally and externally.

  • Advanced skills in financial systems and Excel, with experience working across accounting and reporting platforms.
