ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear‑powered submarines, the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is meaningful and supports Australia’s national security. At ASC, you will find purposeful roles, opportunities to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC offers a deeper purpose you can be proud of.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Assistant Protective Security Advisor to support security governance, compliance and administration activities across ASC's WA operations.

This role is a key part of the Security team and will suit someone who enjoys working with policies, procedures, records management, compliance activities and stakeholder support in a highly regulated environment.

You'll work across a range of protective security activities, supporting ASC's obligations under Commonwealth security requirements and helping maintain a strong security culture across the business.

This is not a security guard role. We're looking for someone with strong administration, coordination and compliance skills who is interested in building a career within Defence and Protective Security.

We anticipate this role to commence early 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day‑to‑day security support requests and provide clear, accurate advice.
  • Maintain and update security records, registers, and access control systems.
  • Assist with event planning and the development of site security plans.
  • Prepare and deliver security briefs to staff, including threat and risk updates.
  • Complete and maintain Security Risk Assessments in line with policy requirements.
  • Support classified matter movement plans and document handling.
  • Conduct basic investigations and prepare incident and security reports.

About you

You may have experience in:

  • Protective security
  • Defence industry
  • Defence administration
  • Security governance
  • Personnel security
  • Compliance or risk
  • Government administration
  • Records management

You'll bring:

  • Strong administration and coordination capability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence working with policies and procedures
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and classified information appropriately

Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) is highly regarded
  • Experience supporting compliance, governance or security-related activities
  • Have an Australian Government security clearance

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

To check your eligibility please visit the Australian GovernmentSecurity Vetting Agencywebsite.

Benefits

  • Unique and challenging work with a deeper purpose.
  • Flexibility over how, when, and where you work for improved work/life balance.
  • Up to 10 days additional leave each year so you can rest and recharge.
  • Generous parental leave so you can give your family the focus it deserves.
  • Subsidised childcare to ease the financial pressure on your family.
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives to support your performance at work.
  • Professional development opportunities to grow your career.

As part of your application, please submit your current resume outlining how your skills, experience, and qualifications align with the essential criteria.
