ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

Working across a complex supply chain environment, you’ll develop long-term inventory strategies, drive demand forecasting and risk mitigation activities, and help ensure critical materials are available to support operational readiness. We welcome candidates with strong supply chain or inventory planning experience who are looking to further develop their expertise in a highly specialised and impactful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive demand forecasting, inventory modelling and material planning activities, translating future operational, maintenance and engineering requirements into effective inventory strategies.
  • Enhance inventory performance by balancing service levels, material availability, inventory investment and supply chain risk.
  • Develop inventory investment recommendations and provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring proactive planning for long lead-time materials, obsolescence and future capability requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement across inventory planning processes, systems and governance frameworks to enhance overall supply chain performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Inventory Specialists, building capability and promoting best practice inventory planning across the organisation.

About you

  • Experience in inventory planning, supply chain management or inventory optimisation within Defence, manufacturing, maritime, mining or other complex asset-intensive environments.
  • Strong knowledge of demand forecasting, inventory optimisation, material management and long-term inventory strategy development.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret data, assess risks and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across diverse business functions.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive continuous improvement in a complex environment.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role may require an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.

Benefits

  • Unique and challenging work with a deeper purpose.
  • 10 additional days of leave
  • Generous parental leave so you can give your family the focus it deserves.
  • Subsidised childcare to ease the financial pressure on your family.
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives so you can perform at your best at work.
  • Professional development opportunities to advance your career.
  • A diverse and supportive environment where you can thrive.
