ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic and influential leader to join our Supply Chain Strategy and Oversight team as the Head of Supply Chain Strategy.

Working at the intersection of industry, government and national security, you will identify and uplift critical sovereign capability, maximise Australian Industry Capability (AIC), and provide strategic advice to ASC's Executive and Board.

Leading a small specialist team, you will build relationships across government, industry and key partners to help ensure Australia has the industrial capability required to deliver future submarine outcomes.

This is a full-time opportunity and can be based at our Henderson site in WA, or Osborne site in SA. Applications from candidates based in WA our strongly encouraged to support critical, local work.

  • Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, suppliers and strategic partners.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on strategic outcomes.

About you

You are a strategic leader who can influence outcomes, often without direct authority, and navigate complex stakeholder environments. You can translate commercial objectives, industrial capability and national priorities into a clear strategic direction, engaging effectively with senior executives, government representatives and industry leaders.

You will also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Strategy, Commerce, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in strategic supply chain, procurement, commercial, defence, industry capability or a related environment.
  • Experience engaging with the Australian defence sector, government stakeholders, sovereign capability initiatives or similarly complex regulated environments.
  • Experience in strategic business planning, program management, commercial management and risk management.
  • Demonstrated success developing industrial, supplier or supply chain capability within a complex operating environment.

  • Well-developed analytical, financial and commercial acumen.
