Qualifications required:
- Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Training and Assessment.
- Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Safety and Health.
- Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003).
- Lead Auditor qualification.
Whilst this role is more operational in nature, an understanding of the WHSE Management System context is key to provide effective support in coaching and mentoring the workforce in effective use of systems and frameworks so as to successfully deploy them. This role will support all aspects of ASC’s WHSE programs and initiatives, including but not limited to on ground support, WHSE risk reduction and assurance activities.

Your ability to interact, educate and liaise in a professional manner with key internal and external stakeholders will be second to none. Your strong conceptual ability and well developed WHSE skills will enable you to apply the appropriate tools, systems and methodologies to successfully carry out this role. You will support and contribute to a positive people culture that values continuous improvement and develops new processes and procedures in line with the Company’s focus on ‘Lean’ thinking.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess strong computer skills, including an intermediate skill level with MS Office.
- Working knowledge of the Australian WHS/OH&S legislation Acts and Regulations.
- Ability to respond to a changing work environment.
- Proven experience with internal and external WHS/OH&S audits.
- Demonstrated time management skills with ability to manage concurrent priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven success in leading teams to achieve results.
- Proven experience in writing policies and procedures.
Desirable Criteria
- Working at Height certification
- Confined Space certification
- High Risk Certification
Experience
- Demonstrated WHSE experience in a similar industry whether it be defence or heavy industry such as construction, manufacturing or mining.
- Demonstrated expertise in partnering with key stakeholders to enable the development of risk assessments, safe operating procedures, major hazard reviews and observations.
- Proven ability in the provision of advice and guidance to a complex commercial business in relation, but not limited to key WHSE operational activities in line with policies and procedures and as per the WHSE operating models.
- Working knowledge of high risk construction work including but not limited to confined space, lifting operations, electrical safety, working at heights, working on or near water, mobile plant operation etc.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting safety programs including site inductions, assurance activities and coaching and mentoring internal stakeholders in WHSE management system tools and requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting and supporting safety and environmental inspections and compliance audits in order to ensure adherence to the safety management systems.
- Working knowledge of Environmental requirements and control.
- Exposure to incident investigation methodologies (such as ICAM or root cause analysis).
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
