About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join ASC as the Senior Project Manager for Updates. Reporting into the Head of Program Updates and Upgrades, this role is responsible for ensuring the successful planning, execution and closeout of Engineering Design Projects associated with the Sustainment of the Collins Class In-Service Submarines Maintenance Program.
The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the timely and budget-conscious delivery of the agreed design outcomes. This entails collaborating with the Asset Management Team to balance and optimise the priorities and scope of the Sustainment Portfolio within a set budget, with the ultimate goal of guaranteeing that the Collins Class Fleet is safe, reliable and available for the Royal Australian Navy.
In addition, the role will have responsibilities in business improvement and process development whilst coaching and mentoring other team members to build ASCs project management capability.
This role is a permanent full-time opportunity, based in Osborne SA.
Responsibilities
- Setting clear safety expectations with the Project Team and demonstrating strong Safety Leadership through your behaviours and actions.
- Overall accountability for the safe and efficient delivery of the planning, execution and close out phases in accordance with approved project management processes.
- Collaborate/manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal program outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and mentor Project Team.
- Effectively manage the risks associated with the delivery of projects in a complex environment.
Skills & Experiences
- Tertiary qualifications in a technical or project management discipline.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a complex project environment as a Project Manager (or equivalent).
- Excellent knowledge of project delivery best practices including scheduling, earned value management, risk management, quality management, stakeholder and personnel management as applicable to a complex project environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and deliver desired business outcomes.
- Demonstrable high level verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across the organisation and externally by building and developing relationships.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
