About the Opportunity
Reporting to our Cyber Security and Network Manager the IT Network Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the ASC Corporate Network which will include maintaining and improving network security and availability, diagnosing network faults and provide effective and timely resolution of issues, provide leadership in network project implementations and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
You will deliver a pivotal role in identifying opportunities to improve network efficiency, reliability, capacity, security and performance through new and improved technologies, tools and processes.
Responsibilities
To be considered for this opportunity you will display significant technical expertise coupled with strong written and verbal presentation skills. You will demonstrate strong organisational capabilities, excellent time management skills as well as the ability to interact successfully with all levels within an organisation up to and include executive managers.
You will be a self-starter displaying highly developed planning and analytical skills as well as high motivation and initiative to identify and implement improvements to ASC’s network operations and infrastructure.
To be considered for this permanent full-time opportunity it is imperative that you can demonstrate expertise across the following technical areas:
- Leading IT networking projects to ensure time, cost and quality objectives are met.
- Maintaining and monitoring network services and security across an IT environment including LAN/WAN technologies, switches, routers wireless systems, voice and video communication.
- Technical expertise installing, configuring and maintenance of network hardware and software systems.
- Identifying business requirements and provide expert advice in the design and implementation of technical networking solutions to meet these requirements.
- Identifying and implementing solutions for the continuous improvement of IT networks.
- Proactively develop and implement systems, tools and processes to maintain IT network availability and security.
Skills & Experiences
- 5+ years professional work experience in an IT field and at least 3 years as a hands-on network engineer in a mixed technology environment including Cisco, Dell and Palo Alto systems.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency.
- Must have minimum CCNA certifications.
- Proven experience in the maintenance and design of routing and switching solutions, firewalls, VPN, DNS, DHCP and Network Authentication Protocols (802.1x)
- Demonstrated experience in creating accurate network architecture diagrams and documentation.
- Proven experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Knowledge of incident and service management processes (ITIL).
- Knowledge and understanding of Cloud platforms such as Azure or Office 365.
- Experience in dealing with 3rd party solution providers and partners.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the ACSC Information Security Manual (ISM).
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
