An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available August 2025 and will be between 24 - 36 months in duration.

Responsibilities 

As a Fabricator you will:

  • Design and fabricate templates, patterns, wood moulds and form blocks of various shapes and sizes used in the forming of plexiglass, fiberglass and various plastic and rubber item

  • Repair hard bottom rubber inflatable boats (RIB)

  • Certifies encapsulated Life Rafts

  • Layout, template, manufacture and install various deck and wall coverings such as rubber matting, lonmat, ceramic floor tiles, stratica, terrazzo, vinyl tiles, formica laminates, fiberglass and ensolite insulation

  • From plans and technical documents, lays out and manufactures, repair various wooden articles such cabinets desks, tables and chairs of fine quality and finish

Eligibility Criteria 

The successful applicant must possess: 

  • Minimum Cert III in any trade qualification

  • 1-5 years (desirable) experience working in the trade

  • Comfortable with working in restricted areas

  • Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills

  • Australian Citizenship

  • An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance

Additional Details

During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures. 

At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying. 

Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
