About the Opportunity

This role influences the direction for ASC’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) agenda and drives programs that create lasting organisational impact. It brings clarity to DEI priorities, strengthens cross functional collaboration and supports the integration of inclusive practice across all stages of the employee experience. Using evidence‑based approaches this position plays a hands on role in shaping a workplace where people feel valued and supported to do their best work.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the delivery of ASC’s national 3 year DEI Strategy and 12 month Action Plan.
  • Lead DEI activities and project manage public DEI commitments, including RAP delivery and Workplace Gender Equality Agency commitments.
  • Review and build on DEI policy ensuring the business is improving the experience of our people
  • Build strong relationships across the business to embed DEI into recruitment, onboarding, performance and development processes.
  • Support and guide DEI Employee Resource Groups and partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver meaningful initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain DEI metrics, reports and insights to support continuous improvement and inform leadership.
  • Design DEI programs and training, managing projects within time and budget.

About you

  • Experienced in leading DEI strategies, programs or action plans in a complex organisation.
  • Experience developing and delivering DEI plans such as RAPs, Gender Equality & Disability Inclusion plans.
  • Ability to interpret DEI legislation and data and translate insights into practical actions.
  • Comfortable influencing at all levels and driving change in a complex organisation.
  • Confident managing ambitious, multi‑year projects and balancing competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a high‑volume environment with shifting deadlines and stakeholder expectations.
  • Able to coordinate events and activities across multiple locations, with travel required at times.
  • Skilled at engaging with diverse groups and handling sensitive discussions with empathy and professionalism.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.

About ASC

Established in 1985, ASC’s 2,500-plus staff offer a depth of submarine design, project management, supply chain, construction and engineering experience and expertise that is unparalleled in Australia’s defence industry. The company’s work on Australia’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarine build and the Collins Class Life of Type Extension takes place in Osborne, South Australia, with sustainment shared across Osborne and Henderson, Western Australia. ASC also plays a leading role in training Royal Australian Navy submariners.
