Your role

As a Lead Piping Engineer you'll guide purposeful work that supports the future of the Industrial Business. Collaborating with a diverse, multidisciplinary team, you’ll explore integrated solutions, offer thoughtful perspectives, and partner with clients to help them build a more sustainable world.

What you’ll be doing

This role is based in Brisbane, designing piping systems and co-ordinating a team of engineers across a range of projects. You will join our growing Industrial Mechanical Team, influencing internal workflows, processes, industry best practices and standards; and will support the development of our future generation of piping engineers. Appreciation of, and collaboration with, other engineering disciplines is essential to achieve successful design solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce concept and detailed engineering designs aligned with client needs
  • Produce, review, and verify engineering design deliverables such as: Calculations, Estimates, Datasheets, Specifications, Reports, Bid evaluations,
  • Provide design support across: Piping and pumped systems, Pipelines, Hydraulic analysis, Mechanical engineering design and analysis
  • Co-ordinate a team of engineers across a range of small to large, multidisciplinary projects to deliver fully coordinated outcomes managing budget and schedule expectations
  • Apply problem‑solving skills to develop innovative solutions
  • Apply Safe Design principles in all daily activities
  • Mentoring and technical development of junior engineers

What you’ll bring

You blend technical knowledge with empathy and big-picture thinking. You're someone who thrives in dynamic environments, builds meaningful connections, and is motivated by purposeful work.

  • Substantive experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Strong detailed mechanical and piping design experience in one or more of the following areas; Piping and pumped systems, Piping design / stress analysis, Pipelines, Hydraulic analysis.
  • Engineering management or supervisory experience, with a proven ability to lead a team of mechanical engineers and designers within a multi-discipline, collaborative environment
  • Awareness of the process industry, including relevant standards (eg AS, API, ASME) and practices relating to process piping, pipelines, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and rotating machinery
  • Strong working knowledge of pipe stress analysis principles and interface with process, mechanical and structural engineering.
  • Working knowledge of engineering software such as: Bentley AutoPIPE, Caesar II, Nozzle PRO, WaterGEMS / Bentley HAMMER, FluidFlow, AFT FATHOM, ANSYS
  • Extensive experience in applying project principles and methodology to manage projects and achieve program outcomes;
  • Strong written communication skills to articulate technical decisions with due justification
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) status
