Your role will include:

  • Serving as an expert in power systems analysis, offering support to internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Leading projects, mentoring engineers, and analysing power system studies to inform planning and grid connection.

  • Advising clients on power generation, energy storage, and network operations.

  • Collaborating with external clients and service providers.

  • Contributing to one of Australia’s largest communities of power systems specialists, addressing complex challenges with innovative solutions.

  • Delivering timely, quality advice on power system operations and development, while leading cutting-edge projects in energy storage and inverter-based generation.

Committed to excellence and continuous improvement, we strive to lead the energy sector and shape a sustainable future for Australia and beyond.

What are we looking for from you?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior/Lead Power Systems Engineer who shares our passion for innovative engineering and is committed to continuous learning.

You will be degree qualified with 10-15 years of post-graduation experience in the power industry, preferably in consulting or as a project developer/owner/operator.

Key Criteria:

  • Expertise in Electrical Engineering: Strong understanding of power systems theory.

  • Modelling Software Proficiency: Experience with power system modelling tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and DIgSILENTPowerFactory is essential.

  • Practical Experience: Field experience with power systems behaviour and knowledge in protection and primary systems design are advantageous.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the National Electricity Rules and the grid connection process within the NEM is required.

We invite you to help shape the future of energy with us.

As well as the opportunity to work for a business that has innovation and sustainability at its core with very ambitious targets to become Net Zero by 2025, your role at Aurecon also includes the exciting benefits below:

  • Working holiday initiative – to give you the opportunity to work in another country for up to 4 weeks annually if you have work rights for that country

  • Cultural holiday initiative – Easter holidays not your thing? You can swap public holidays with a day or days that are better aligned to you

  • 22 weeks paid parental leave (permanent employees do not have to complete a certain amount of tenure to be eligible)

  • Ability to purchase up to 20 days additional leave annually

  • Let’s Talk is a conversation based framework that enables individuals to align their contribution, professional development and career progress with Aurecon’s goals

  • In person, and online, technical training for the commercial and analytical skills you will need for your work

  • Access to Aurecon’s People and Family Care program

  • Additionally, Aurecon recognises the importance and value of accessing best practice external development programmes and studies, to complement the differentiated, technical and professional learning offered in-house. We provide financial assistance and study leave for employees undertaking approved studies, supporting individuals with ongoing professional development.

Then please apply now!

We are an equitable-opportunity employer that values diverse perspectives and the contribution that every one of our people makes to our culture. Put simply, we want you to bring your whole self!

We know that people from historically or currently marginalised backgrounds are less likely to apply for roles where they don't match all the advertisement criteria exactly - if this advert has piqued your interest and your experience may not align fully then we still want to hear from you and encourage you to apply. Remember, it's your potential and how you bring ideas to life which are important.

We are committed to ensuring that you are well supported so that our recruitment process is fair, equitable, inclusive, and available to everyone. Please let us know what adjustments or support you need to make the recruitment process more accessible to you.
