Lead Electrical Engineer

At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. We are thinkers, solvers and collaborators who work with our clients to deliver the infrastructure and assets that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future.

What you'll do

As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you'll help shape the future of our Electrical team while leading the delivery of major aviation, defence and data centre projects.

This is a role for someone who enjoys influencing technical outcomes, developing people and building trusted client relationships. You'll work closely with senior leaders across Aurecon and play a key role in growing capability within the team as demand across our market sectors continues to increase.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and opportunities to support some of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects, you'll have the platform to make a genuine impact while further developing your leadership career.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead technical delivery on complex and multidisciplinary electrical engineering projects
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and technical oversight to engineers and designers
  • Drive project strategy, design decisions and quality outcomes
  • Support bids, proposals and client engagement activities
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and secure future work
  • Partner with leadership to build capability and grow the electrical team
  • Contribute to the development of future leaders across the business
  • Play an active role in shaping team culture, performance and technical excellence

What you'll bring

  • 10+ years' experience within consulting engineering or major infrastructure environments
  • Demonstrated success leading the delivery of complex electrical engineering projects
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management capability
  • Experience leading, mentoring or developing engineers and designers
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery drivers
  • Ability to influence project outcomes and provide strategic technical advice
  • Experience across aviation, defence, data centres, buildings or major infrastructure projects
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition highly regarded
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance highly desirable

How we support your growth

This role provides the opportunity to lead some of Australia's most exciting and complex projects while helping shape the future of a growing team.

You'll have exposure to major aviation programs, defence infrastructure projects and the rapidly expanding data centre market. We are particularly interested in people who are excited by the opportunity to deepen their expertise in these sectors while taking the next step in their leadership journey.

You'll be supported by experienced leaders, a collaborative national team and genuine opportunities to influence projects, people and client outcomes.

Recognised by the AFR as a Best Place to Work in 2026, we embrace diverse perspectives and flexible ways of working and are committed to helping our people grow their careers in a way that works for them.

Who we are

We are an engineering consultancy with more than 6,000 people across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. We believe the world needs people who can engineer possibilities; people who can create infrastructure that makes life better for people and the planet. That is why we are here – to bring ideas to life, the Aurecon way.

Ready for your next adventure?

If this sounds like your next step, we'd love to hear from you. We value diverse experiences and welcome applications from Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as requests for part-time or flexible working arrangements. For recruitment adjustments, contact WorkplaceAdjustment@aurecongroup.com.

Our hiring decisions are made by people, not AI. We're most interested in your individual thinking and experiences, so please ensure your application reflects your authentic perspective.
