Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Design what’s beneath. Shape what’s next.

What if the work you did every day helped shape cities, communities and the future of infrastructure?

At Aurecon, that’s exactly what we do. We don’t just solve geotechnical challenges — we rethink them. From complex underground works to major infrastructure, we bring ideas to life in ways that are smarter, more sustainable and future-focused.

Now, we’re looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground & Underground team — someone who’s ready to lead, mentor and push technical boundaries.

What you’ll do

You’ll play a key role in delivering technically complex, high-impact projects while helping grow the capability of those around you.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead geotechnical design across feasibility, concept and detailed phases
  • Apply advanced analysis using tools like PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience and more
  • Work across diverse environments — in-office, remote and embedded with clients
  • Contribute to winning work through proposals and client engagement
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, building team capability
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, practical outcomes
  • Occasional attendance on site to support project delivery

What you’ll bring

You’re technically strong, commercially aware and passionate about continuous learning.

We’re looking for:

  • 10+ years’ geotechnical engineering experience
  • RPEQ certification is required
  • Strong experience with FE modelling and geotechnical software
  • Defence clearance (or ability to obtain)
  • Willingness to attend site as required
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality designs and reports
  • Confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring
  • Involvement in industry bodies such as AGS is (desirable)

Why Aurecon?

Because here, your career is as important as the projects you work on.

We’re proud to be recognised as a leader in innovation and sustainability — but what really sets us apart is how we invest in our people.

At Aurecon, you’ll get:

  • Flexible work that fits your life (hybrid, part-time, job share options)
  • Real career progression supported by mentoring and our Careers Hub
  • Opportunities to work on iconic, meaningful projects across Australia and globally
  • Inclusive, diverse teams where your voice is genuinely valued
  • Competitive parental leave, wellbeing programs and cultural holiday swaps

Who we are

Aurecon is a design, engineering and advisory company — but more importantly, we’re a community of problem solvers, innovators and creators.

From Allianz Stadium in Sydney to transformative infrastructure across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, our work leaves a lasting legacy.

Ready to make your mark?

If you’re driven by curiosity, motivated by impact and ready to help shape the future — we’d love to hear from you.

At Aurecon, it’s not just about what you’ve done. It’s about what you’ll bring, who you are, and the ideas you’re ready to create.

Bring your ideas. Build your future. Apply now.
