Ausgrid is at the forefront of Australia’s energy transition and have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Innovation Manager to join our team. Sitting in the Fleet, Logistics, and EVCI team you’ll play a critical role in shaping the commercial strategy and future direction of our fleet, logistics, supply chain, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI), while identifying new opportunities for value creation across the broader business. Reporting to the Head of Logistics, Fleet and EVCI, you will lead the development and execution of integrated commercial and business strategy while driving continual improvement across fleet, logistics, electrification initiatives and emerging growth opportunities. This is a senior strategic role for a commercially minded individual who thrives at turning ideas into actionable strategy and tangible outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and delivery of commercial and business strategy across Fleet, Logistics, EVCI and electrification initiatives.
  • Provide strategic advice and decision support to senior leaders through clear analysis, insights and recommendations.
  • Identify and progress new revenue and asset monetisation opportunities, balancing commercial return with enterprise risk.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement through structured learning, reviews and value‑based investment decisions.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams to shape and deliver priority commercial initiatives and strategic outcomes.

What you bring to the role

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values. You’re a strategic and commercially astute professional who brings structure, insight and momentum to complex environments.

You’ll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, commerce, business, economics or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in strategy, commercial planning or business transformation within complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong background in strategy consulting or equivalent strategic roles.
  • Well-developed commercial acumen with a proven track record of delivering tangible outcomes.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving and systems‑thinking capability.
  • High‑impact communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, compelling presentations for senior audiences.
  • Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across business, government and industry.
  • A proactive, execution‑focused mindset and the courage to challenge the status quo.

Experience in the energy sector or advanced analytics is highly regarded but not essential.
