Ausgrid is looking for an experienced Facilities Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day performance of a large and diverse property portfolio 1,000+ locations . Reporting to the Head of Workplace and Operational Property this is a critical leadership role focused on operational excellence, strong vendor partnerships, and driving efficient and more scalable ways of working.
About the role
Based in Haymarket, this role blends strategic oversight with hands on operational leadership. You’ll lead the operational delivery of facilities & workplace services across the portfolio, ensuring sites are safe, compliant, and running efficiently. Acting as the key interface between internal stakeholders and external providers, you’ll build strong partnerships and drive a consistent high performing operation.
Key responsibilities but not limited to:

Leading the day-to-day facilities and workplace operations across a portfolio of 1,000+ locations

Manage, coach and develop a team of 8 direct reports alongside a broad contractor and vendor network to drive performance and engagement

Oversee and optimise the facilities management OPEX budget ensuring cost-effective service delivery aligned to business objectives

Partner with stakeholders to ensure facilities services with customer expectations and evolving

business needs

Drive strong performance outcomes, including compliance, governance and safety standards across all sites

Identifying and implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies.

Promote consistency across the portfolio, improving service quality, operatonal effectiveness and financial outcomes

Managing vendor relationships, ensuring performance, accountability and continuous improvement.
To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:
You’re a strong operational leader who thrives in complex fast-paced, environments. You bring a hands-on approach, excel at building relationships and are focused on delivering outcomes and continuous improvement.

Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Management, Finance, Real Estate or related discipline (desirable).

Experience in management of property, assets, facilities or other relevant experience.

Experience in design, construction or accommodation projects (office/industrial)

Proven leadership capability, managing teams and contractor networks.

Strong vendor management and performance oversight experience.

A track record of driving operational improvements.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset.
