This is your opportunity to play a key role in one of Australia’s most dynamic renewable energy growth areas. Ausgrid, together with PLUS ES (part of the Ausgrid Group), is leading the delivery of community battery and grid-scale BESS programs across our network, while PLUS ES continues to extend this capability into the external market.
Reporting to the PLUS ES BESS Engineering and Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and commissioning of primary, secondary and communications equipment across distribution, zone and sub-transmission networks. Your work will help ensure we deliver safe, reliable and sustainable energy for our customers and communities.

As an Advanced Technician, you’ll support Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) operations, undertaking Level 2 maintenance, technical checks and on-call fault response. You’ll play a hands-on role in setting technical and safety standards, contributing to the performance, reliability and future of energy storage and grid stability.
These roles provide a clear pathway into advanced Protection, Automation & Control positions within Ausgrid, along with exposure to cutting-edge technology in a rapidly evolving industry.
This role requires remote travel. You may also be required to participate in on-call and after-hours response as part of your responsibilities.
What you bring to the role

Further energise us through your additional skills and qualifications in:
- Cert II Electrotechnology (or equivalent)
- Advanced Trade Technician Course (or equivalent)
- Holds a Class C drivers' licence
- ACMA Communications Cabling Licence.
- Applicable HRW Licences (EWP, Crane, Dogging, etc.)
- Experience in High Voltage Operating/Permit applications
- Experience in commissioning and maintenance of Protection systems or industrial automation systems
- Consistently demonstrated experience in taking responsibility for carrying out Maintenance and Fault
- Finding of Protection systems with Medium impact to Network, Customers & Safety and being typically associated with the Zone Network. E.g. Basic Zone and STS (low MVA, fully switched)
- Experience whilst under instruction in carrying out Maintenance and Fault Finding of Protection systems with High impact to Network, Customers & Safety and being typically associated with Sub-Transmission Network. E.g. Complex Zone and STS (high MVA, interconnected/remote ended, complex CBD)
- Consistently demonstrated experience in taking responsibility for carrying out Commissioning of Protection systems with low impact to Network, Customers & Safety and being typically associated with the Distribution Network. E.g. Distribution Subs, Zone 11kV, Reclosers & Regulators
- Experience whilst under instruction in carrying out Commissioning of Protection systems with High impact to Network, Customers & Safety and being typically associated with the Sub-transmission Network. E.g. Complex Zone and STS (high MVA, interconnected/remote ended, complex CBD)
