Our primary focus is the safe management and operation of the electricity network. Day-to-day we are actively operating, maintaining, repairing, and building our electricity network with a focus on safety and reliability. Our job is to make sure the network is ready for a future where renewables play a major role in the power mix.
Bright Spark Program
At Ausgrid, we are passionate about growing and investing in our early career’s talent. The Bright Spark Apprentice Program supports our business vision for our communities to have the power for a resilient, affordable net zero future by developing our future leaders.
This program aids in building strong foundations to develop your career as a Lineworker, Cable Jointer, or Electrician. As part of our program, you will be given the opportunity to develop your skills and capability in:
- Completing a structured training program and a Certificate III in the relevant trade through an RTO whilst working and earning a full-time wage.
- Using and handling and power tools to install and maintain power network infrastructure.
- Fabrication, assembly and dismantling utilities components.
- Installing, maintaining, repairing, testing, commissioning, diagnosing and rectifying faults in electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
- Maintaining poles, overhead and underground infrastructure.
- Work on electrical metering, light, power, and data circuits.
About you
- An Australian citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident
- Already have completed an electrical apprenticeship and wish to transfer
- Have completed year 10 or hold a Record of School Achievement or equivalent
- Have a great attitude and the ability to learn by following instructions
- Hold a white card or willing to get one
- Possess an Australian motor vehicle drivers’ licence
- Willing to submit profiling cards on a weekly basis and undertake Capstone Assessments
- Have reliable transport to travel to the depots
- Willing to work outside normal working hours if required
- Able to commence full time employment in January 2023
Once you have successfully completed the apprenticeship you will become trade qualified either as a Lineworker, Cable Jointer or an Electrician.
