Your role at Ausgrid

Reporting to the Manager Asset Standards, the Senior Engineer undertakes expert engineering and technical activities to support a safe, reliable, sustainable and affordable network for your customers. This role will see transform the way we work through preparing technical documentation and providing subject matter expertise.

  • Develop and utilise relevant systems which support engineering or technical documentation related activities.
  • Prepare cost estimates, processes and documentation relevant to area of expertise to meet commercial and strategic objectives
  • Perform consultation with relevant business stakeholders impacted by changes to technical documentation.
  • Develop appropriate risk assessments and undertake cost benefit analysis to support engineering, operational and strategic decision making.
  • Undertake data analysis, assessment, calculations or reporting to support project or operational activities and ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes and legislation


What we are looking for

We are seeking a degree qualified electrical engineer with experience in planning, design, construction. Maintenance and operation of the transmission and distribution network. You are someone who has superior research and analytical skills with ability to assess and advise on complex and/or contentious issues, and exercise initiative and sound judgement. You are someone who thrives on fostering strong stakeholder relationship and you can communicate with influence and are confident. Attention to detail, pro activeness, organisational skills and solution orientation are key skills in this role.

  • Extensive experience undertaking rigorous research, risk assessments, investigations, analysis and planning with the ability to be involved in complex or highly technical investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in technical principles, asset and system management, performance expectations, technical compliance and diagnostic analysis.
  • Sound understanding of commercial considerations and risk management principles including consequence, likelihood and residual risk.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams or providing guidance to professional and technical staff and demonstrated ability to build a culture of accountability and performance
  • Superior knowledge of legislation, regulations and standards relevant to the operation of an electricity distribution utility in NSW
