Your new role

As a Climate Resilience Engineer, you’ll play a key role in conducting climate risk assessments and providing engineering and technical support to drive resilience outcomes. You’ll be involved in the third update of our climate resilience assessment, refining methods for modelling network vulnerability and enhancing our understanding of interdependencies with other critical infrastructure. This role is part of a well-established, cross-disciplinary program, already implementing solutions to strengthen climate resilience.

By joining Ausgrid, you’ll know that your contributions will be valued and will directly translate into practical solutions that benefit the community.

Spark our interest!

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in conducting climate risk assessments, allowing you to evaluate and address potential impacts on infrastructure. You will bring extensive expertise in engineering modelling, with a strong focus on the use of Python or similar analytical coding tools to analyse complex datasets and develop insights.

Your ability to solve technical or specialist problems and implement effective solutions will be vital in driving success and delivering results. Ideally, you will have a proven track record of engineering experience gained from technical roles within the electricity distribution sector or another closely related industry. This hands on experience will be backed by an engineering degree in a relevant discipline (or an equivalent qualification), ensuring a solid technical foundation for the role.

In addition, you will have a thorough understanding of relevant statutes, regulations, and procedures, including safe working practices, network standards, and codes of practice. Your ability to communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—will enable you to present complex technical information in a clear and accessible manner. Experience working within a team environment will be crucial for successfully delivering projects and tasks within agreed time frames and budgets. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience liaising with a variety of stakeholders, including resolving complex complaints or issues that may arise during the course of projects as well as monitoring of costs and managing the financial impacts of work activities, projects, or programs.
