We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual to join our Technical Training team. The ideal candidate will either hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or be willing to undertake further study to complete the required units. A background in the electrical trade is essential for success in this role.

As a Technical Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering a range of critical courses, including statutory training such as ESR, CPR, LV Release and Rescue, and Pole Top/EWP. You will also facilitate Ausgrid enterprise courses covering key topics like Shorts Training, Applying Earths, Height Safety, Substation Entry, and Live Work Training.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need excellent communication skills and a genuine ability to share knowledge effectively. You must also be able to assess training participants impartially and demonstrate a strong commitment to your ongoing professional development. A willingness to learn and stay updated with industry standards is essential.

What you bring to the role

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience:

  • Certificate III or equivalent qualifications in the ESI industry as either a Lineworker, Cable Jointer, or Electrical Fitter or significant experience working on a distribution network as a plant operator.
  • Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).
  • NSW Construction Induction Card.
  • Understanding of Federal, State Government, Vocational Education and Training (VET) RTO/training function requirements, including:
    • Knowledge of the AQF structure.
    • Knowledge of ASQA RTO Standards 2015 and its application to RTO/training function administration operations.
    • Knowledge of regulatory training and assessment needs of the business and Accredited Service Providers.
  • Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft Office and systems.
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
  • Effective listener and communicator and ability to constructively challenge, influence, and resolve conflict in order to drive stronger outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels, and with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound presentation and facilitation skills in coordinating, facilitating Training, Assessment, and verification of competency (VOC), and or coaching, mentoring and supervising personnel.
