See yourself working here
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building the systems that support dynamic pricing and help customer-owned energy resources like batteries and EVs participate more effectively in energy markets. You'll design and deliver scalable, high-performance software that integrates real-time data, complex models, and cloud-based systems to power smarter, more sustainable grid operations. Working closely with product managers, data scientists, and electrical engineers, you’ll help translate cutting-edge ideas into robust, working code.
This role is based at Haymarket office in Sydney and we offer hybrid working.
This role is for you if you can:
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude and alignment to our core values.
- Bring deep experience in Python and another language such as C#, with a strong focus on backend development.
- Can take complex engineering and scientific concepts, like energy pricing models, and build them into clean, scalable systems. An electrical engineering/maths background helps, but it's not required.
- Hands-on Sysadmin and DevOps experience, able to deploy and maintain containerised and Azure-native services such as managed databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and Azure App Services.
- Have some exposure to Python machine learning tools such as sklearn and Apache SparkML on Data Platforms (e.g. Databricks).
- Are comfortable using AI coding assistants, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar tools, as part of your everyday development workflow.
- Bring genuine curiosity to your work: you actively seek out new tools, techniques, and domains, and can demonstrate how that learning has shaped what you build.
- Write reliable, well-tested code; automated unit and integration testing is part of how you work, not an afterthought.
- Work comfortably in a small, agile and multi-disciplinary team. A well-rounded skill set and strong communication are appreciated.

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude and alignment to our core values.
