We bring the energy – through purpose and people.

Not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

As Estimator, this role will see you developing accurate project cost estimates in accordance with the Company standards and within the agreed delivery timeframes, enabling projects to be completed within budget and allow AusNet to deliver its annual CAPEX portfolio.

You will work closely with other stakeholders such as Engineers, Project Managers, Procurement and other subject matter experts to ensure that estimates accurately reflect current market rates and design and construction methodologies.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Southbank, Melbourne, with a hybrid work arrangement (office/WFH) and is part of our Network Operations & Delivery team.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

  • Develop project cost estimates for Company and Customer initiated projects
  • Apply project delivery knowledge to ensure accurate estimating
  • Maintain cost estimation libraries, ensuring rates and effort hours are kept up to date
  • Present project estimates to various stakeholders as part of the estimating governance process (i.e. estimate reviews and estimate challenge sessions)
  • Collate feedback from previously delivered projects (post implementation reviews) which will serve as input into new project estimates
  • Provide support to address Requests for Information as required during the project lifecycle

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the field of project cost estimation, with the ability to develop bottom-up estimates
  • Understanding the composition of a project cost estimate, including the various direct and indirect costs
  • Knowledge of Expert Estimation software, preferred
  • Knowledge of wider project delivery phases such as design, construction and commissioning, highly beneficial
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills and effectively handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, managing timeframes and meeting deadlines under pressure

The AusNet experience is all about…

  • Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking clever ways and looking at things differently.
  • Building an energy future to be proud of: We’re a trusted leader, with deep expertise, driven to do what’s right for our customers and communities.
  • Being a part of a team that cares deeply about each other: We share in the good times. We support in the tough times. And we’re humble through and through.

We’re committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We believe different perspectives are essential to our success, and we encourage all applicants to apply. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we're happy to discuss how we can support you.

At AusNet, we bring the energy!  Ready to make your impact? Apply now!
