We bring the energy!

Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

Are you ready to shape the future of energy?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Primary Engineer to influence the future of Victoria's transmission network. You'll provide technical guidance across major substation projects, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that support the safe, reliable, and efficient growth of the network.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet’s Transmission network
  • Apply primary technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
  • Develop concept scopes and specifications for design and construction. Review and assess brownfield electricity substation designs, providing technical input into staging, constructability, operability, maintainability and safety in design
  • Provide support to the estimation and schedule development activities.
  • Contribute to the development of cost effective and constructible business cases, including:
    • Supporting the development of project schedules and risk registers
    • Providing engineering input into commercial offers on customer offers
  • Identify opportunities to develop new or improved standards and to ensure the timely delivery of efficient solutions of complex technical engineering designs and standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach and mentor personnel within the team and share knowledge and experience

You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience in electricity networks engineering
  • Simplify complex engineering analysis for non-engineers (summarising key decision-making during delivery of detailed design)
  • Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals with extensive design and construction knowledge covering, performance, functionality, operation, maintenance and risks
  • Extensive experience working in electricity substations engineering, project delivery and/or design role
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environment that AusNet operates within
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower and support colleagues and team members to achieve common goals
  • Proven project team leadership skills
  • Proven capability in development of concepts and/or delivery of designs
  • Proven ability to build and grow relationships and partnerships across divisions within Ausnet as well as with external suppliers, customers and regulatory bodies

The AusNet experience is all about…

  • Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: We love unpacking complex challenges in clever ways and looking at things differently.
  • When life happens, knowing we've got your back: Whether it's life's big moments or the unexpected little ones, we get it – sometimes you just need to be there.
  • Being part of a team that cares deeply about each other: We share in the good times. We support in the tough times. And we're humble through and through.

We're committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We believe different perspectives are essential to our success, and we encourage all applicants to apply. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we're happy to discuss how we can support you.

At AusNet, we bring the energy! Ready to make your impact? Apply now!
