We’re looking for an experienced Project Director to join our team. This role will ensure safe and quality delivery of large-scale complex infrastructure projects to the approved scope considering time and cost metrics while meeting the safety, customer and community, environmental and construction standards, and expectations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist with growing the business portfolio and be part of the force that will shape our industry’s transition to a renewables future.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Fully accountable for end-to-end delivery of large-scale high-risk power infrastructure projects to achieve expected organizational growth targets while meeting, safety, community, environment, quality, schedule, budget expectations. Total value of projects will be in the range of $50M-$500M
  • Managing a Project team with Project managers and Project engineers.
  • Responsible for development of project delivery strategies and actively support pre-contracts project development phase to produce commercially competitive proposals and drive results.
  • Leads the assessment and management of project and network risks and opportunities, including ensuring project constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Provision of insights into value engineering and lessons assessment workshops in support of the continuous improvement of project management and engineering processes to improve overall service offering to our customers.
  • Commercial management and outcome of the project considering a key set of parameters which will be agreed at project commencement.
  • Risk management of the overall project from a project delivery, commissioning, and network perspective.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and professional relationships with key internal, client and supplier stakeholders.
  • Develop and report lessons learnt to ensure continuous improvement in the development and delivery of construction projects.
  • Develop and implement tools and standards for the smooth transition from construction to operations & maintenance.
  • Project finance management, procurement management and material management
  • Assist project development activities.

This role will spend significant amount of time on site managing technical aspect of Construction activities

You don’t need to check every box; however we’re looking for a good combination of:

  • Registered CPPD qualifications from AIPM or equivalent from PMP®, Professional Engineer Registration from Business Licensing authority in Victoria,
  • 20+ years of proven experience in project management delivering
  • Proven successful delivery of technically and commercially complex projects with value more than $100M
  • Portfolio management experience – ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and project teams
  • Safety Leadership
  • People leadership on managing a project team (direct and indirect team management)
  • Strong technical skills and sound application of PM tools, processes and best practice
  • In depth knowledge on Project Schedule, Forecasting and financial control on large scale commercially complex projects
  • Ability to coordinate with construction and commissioning workforce on site.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and influencing skills to manage project outcomes
  • Ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring understanding of project implications irrespective of technical knowledge of audience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and client liaison skills
