About the Role
The Field Support & Security Specialist is responsible for the planning, risk assessment, and delivery of safe field operations directly related to the delivery of the project activities within the community.
Predominantly field based, this role will ensure that the protection and safety of our project personnel is maintained. With a significant focus on prevention through strong collaboration with the land engagement team and effective and genuine community engagement, the Field Support and Security Specialist role is to ensure incidents are minimised and project personnel can safety perform their tasks within the community (both in the public street and on landowner property).
The role will require engagement with delivery partners, Police, local council and other key project stakeholders.
This role will report to the Manager, Protective Security and Emergency Managementand is located at BALLARAT, Victoria.
We are a flexible and truly hybrid workplace.
What you will deliver
- Develop, maintain and implement the physical security and personnel safety plans
- Develop policies, procedures and oversee contingency plan development for various threat/risk scenarios
- Provide support and advice on physical security matters to the project and its contractors
- Develop detailed Operation Orders / Plans for field activities
- Ensure safe and secure practices are adopted when working in the field in support of the project
- Work collaboratively within a team of landowner engagement officers and alongside current regional engagement delivery partners, to provide points of regular engagement and contact with potential impacted landowners within the region of the project
- Develop, maintain and implement security and emergency awareness, training and exercises across the projects
- Collaborate with external agencies to ensure a satisfactory and ongoing relationship
- Operate specialist security equipment and personal protective equipment (body worn cameras, satellite tracking, radios etc)
- Compile detailed reports on security matters, events and host/co-ordinate incident de-briefs
What we like about you
- Investigation experience determining root causes of security breaches including liaising with law enforcement on complex criminal investigations
- Incident management experience ideally gained interfacing with State response, incident and control agencies
- Experience contributing to the preparation of policies, procedures, strategies and executive level papers in relation to protective security, major incidents, incident reviews and statements of facts
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Experience managing security contractors
- Community Safety/Law Enforcement background
- Extensive experience at a senior level of security and/or Public Safety
- Diploma or higher-level qualifications in Security or Policing
- Cert IV or higher qualifications in Investigation / Diploma or higher in Security Risk Management
Note:
License requirements: A full driver’s license is essential due to high frequency driving and field works.
