When you choose AusNet, you’ll join genuine people working together, making Real. Progress

At AusNet, we’re the link between renewable energy sources and local communities, playing a vital role in Australia’s clean energy transition. Here, your work creates meaningful impact for millions of Victorians.

And right now — Strategy is the place to be!

This is our third Strategy Lead vacancy due to rapid business growth. If you're looking for a team where your potential is recognised and your pathway is fast‑tracked, this is your moment.

Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.

We have an opportunity for a Strategy Lead to deliver high‑quality insights and strategic recommendations that shape the direction of our Transmission business, influence executive decision‑making, and support the once‑in‑a‑generation energy transition.

This role is based at Freshwater Place and sits within our Transmission Strategy & Regulation team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Solving complex, ambiguous problems across network planning, asset strategy and long‑term transmission outlooks
  • Leading strategic deep dives and developing insights that guide Board and Executive decision‑making
  • Supporting long‑term strategic agenda development for Transmission
  • Simplifying complex technical topics into compelling, executive‑ready narratives

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for someone with a strong consulting tool kit and a good combination of:

  • Strategic consulting experience gained in a top‑tier or highly regarded strategy firm environment, with 2–3+ years working on complex, ambiguous, business‑critical problems.
  • Exceptional structured problem‑solving capability — able to rapidly break down complex issues, analyse data and develop clear, actionable insights.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑ready PowerPoint storytelling and the ability to simplify technical concepts.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills — confident extracting insights from SMEs, influencing senior leaders, and presenting to Board‑level audiences.

A real place to belong

You’ll join a collaborative, highly trusted Strategy team that acts as a true advisor to the business. We work with integrity, care for one another, and champion diverse perspectives.

We believe in more than just competitive pay. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Development: Strategy is a proven incubator — the strategy team is highly regarded by the organisation and viewed as an accelerator for future leaders
  • Flexibility: Hybrid work, flexible hours, and space to balance life.
  • Leave: Generous personal leave and 14 weeks paid parental leave (no minimum service).
  • Community Giving: Paid volunteer days with Foodbank or your chosen cause.
  • Perks: Purchased leave, income protection, novated leasing and corporate discounts.

Join a team shaping Victoria’s energy future.

If you’re passionate about impactful strategy work and excited by the fast growth in our team, bring your energy and help us build a cleaner tomorrow.
