We bring the energy!

Through purpose and people - not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers’ and our communities. The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.

Go beyond keeping the lights on. Solve energy challenges that matter most.

We have an opportunity for an Investment Analyst to support the Transmission business by delivering high‑quality capital forecasting, financial modelling and investment analysis that directly informs strategic and board level decisions.

Reporting to the Strategy Manager, this permanent, full‑time role is based at Freshwater Place (Melbourne) and sits within the Transmission Strategy & Regulation team.

What you’ll help deliver

  • Development and maintenance of high‑quality financial models, including portfolio capital forecasts and project models
  • Coordination of the Transmission 5‑year budget, building up CAPEX and OPEX forecasts and working with engineering teams and support functions
  • Analysis to ensure investment aligns with strategy and manages risk
  • Preparation of board papers and capex forecast reports, including monthly presentation to Board forums
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis to support strategic projects and business planning

You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:

  • Experience in capital portfolio forecasting or complex financial modelling across multiple projects
  • A strong finance or analytical background (e.g. investment banking, Big 4, consulting or corporate finance)
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills and the ability to produce and present board‑ready PowerPoint materials coupled with the confidence to explain or defend assumptions and numbers
  • A collaborative, detail‑focused approach, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders and working through complexity

The AusNet experience is all about…

  • Growing your impact: Build your capability through meaningful work, senior exposure and opportunities that stretch your skills
  • Solving some of the most complex energy challenges of our time: Apply rigorous analysis and clear thinking to decisions that shape the future of the network
  • Building an energy future to be proud of: Contribute to a trusted, regulated business focused on delivering long‑term value for customers and communities

We’re committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce. We believe different perspectives are essential to our success, and we encourage all applicants to apply. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process, we're happy to discuss how we can support you.

At AusNet, we bring the energy! Ready to make your impact? Apply now!
