When you choose AusNet, you’ll join genuine people working together making Real. Progress

At AusNet, we’re the link between renewable energy sources and local communities, playing a key role in the clean energy transition and providing essential energy to every Victorian family.

Help us lead the way, while enriching your career with real people who encourage you to bring your best and make real impact – for your career, our communities, and Australia’s cleaner energy future.

Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.

Working within the Transmission team, you’ll apply your expertise in protection, control, SCIMS and communication systems to support the delivery of transmission terminal station projects.

You’ll partner with internal stakeholders and delivery partners to ensure projects are completed cost‑effectively and to a consistently high standard across the network.

Hybrid working applies (Southbank/WFH), with occasional travel to sites and depots as required.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet’s Transmission network
  • Apply protection and control technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
  • Develop scopes and specifications for design and construction. Review and assess brownfield and greenfield electricity substation designs
  • Provide support to the estimation and schedule development activities.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new, and update existing engineering standards
  • Contribute to and be accountable for the development of secondary scopes and estimates for Transmission substation projects ensuring cost effective and constructible business cases can be delivered, including:
    • Supporting the development of project schedules and risk registers
    • Providing engineering input into commercial or customer offers

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering field, with a strong commitment to safety outcomes and engineering judgement
  • Detailed technical knowledge and extensive experience in secondary design and commissioning
  • Detailed understanding of project lifecycles and application of engineering principals
  • Extensive experience working in electricity substations engineering, project delivery and/or design role
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environment that AusNet operates within
  • Skilled in leading and coordinating project engineering teams and mentoring junior team members.

A real place to belong.

We celebrate unique voices, refreshing perspectives and diversity in our team. Engage and connect through our social club, family day, wide range of events or by joining one of our Employee Network Groups.

We believe in more than just competitive pay. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Flexibility: whether this is hybrid work, flexible hours, or part time arrangements, we’ll work with you to help balance work and life.
  • Leave: more than typical personal leave and a generous 14 weeks of paid parental leave, with no minimum service.
  • Community giving: a paid day to volunteer with our social impact partner, Foodbank, or for a cause that matters to you.
  • Perks: we offer all the other perks you’ve come to expect like purchased leave, income protection insurance, novated leasing, corporate discounts, private health cover discounts and more.

As an industry in transformation, we’re excited by the possibilities ahead.
