Being in a business support role at Australia Post means helping our people deliver for every Australian. Just like our Posties, you’re still the people behind every parcel. Whatever your team or role, you’re helping grow our people, grow our business and making a lasting impact on the Australian community. You’ll find a culture of connection in our great people and the flexibility to balance work with life outside of it.
About the opportunity
Join Australia Post as a Commercial Program Manager and help shape the commercial success of our transformation programs. Combining strategic thinking with strong commercial and financial acumen, you’ll provide the insight and governance needed to navigate complex decisions, manage financial performance and vendors, and ensure program activity remains aligned to strategic objectives. You’ll work across the Post30 Transformation Office to strengthen financial governance and support better commercial outcomes.
This is a great opportunity to combine your strategic thinking, commercial acumen and advanced Excel and modelling capability to solve complex problems, influence key stakeholders and shape commercially sound decisions that deliver value for Australia Post.
What you’ll deliver with us
Commercial & Strategic Priorities
- Ensure programs are aligned with Australia Post and Post30 Transformation Office strategic objectives, providing commercial and financial insights to support investment decisions, business cases and the successful delivery of program outcomes.
- Partner with Program Managers and workstream leads to ensure commercial, financial and governance activities support program delivery and benefits realisation.
- Develop and maintain program financial governance frameworks, standards, controls and reporting practices across the portfolio.
- Provide strategic commercial and financial advice to senior stakeholders to support investment decisions and portfolio outcomes.
- Oversee commercial aspects of vendor relationships, ensuring services meet quality, performance and budgetary requirements.
- Manage the commercial aspects of Statements of Work (SOWs), including reviewing terms of reference to ensure services are appropriately scoped and deliver required outcomes. Benchmark service providers where appropriate to ensure value for money, competitiveness and alignment with market practices.
- Identify and evaluate financial and commercial risks associated with programs, maintain risks within program risk registers and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure financial risks, issues and dependencies are actively managed and governed across programs and workstreams.
Financial
- Provide financial oversight for Australia Post programs, ensuring robust financial governance processes are maintained and adhered to.
- Manage the monthly financial management process including actuals tracking and detailed cost forecasting.
- Provide Commercial and Finance Management information and insights as required to inform key strategic approaches and enterprise financial reporting cycles.
- Set the operating rhythm for key financial management processes for the Program and ensure stakeholder, governance, and other executive reporting requirements are met, including CAPEX/OPEX classifications.
- Oversee expected and delivered financial benefits throughout the life of the Program (monitor impact of scope changes, cost and time impacts).
About you
