About the opportunity
The Head of Enterprise Delivery Centre of Excellence (COE) is responsible for empowering the Project and Program Managers to successfully deliver initiatives that are aligned to the enterprise’s strategic goals, best practices, and minimum standards. This role oversees Post26 Office (P26O) services that promote project management standards aligned to Australia Post’s strategic objectives. This person is accountable for management and facilitation of Program and Project Delivery Assurance across the Portfolio, ensuring that project related issues are detected and resolved before they escalate. This role requires an individual with an aptitude for breaking down large datasets to gain insights, present a comprehensive and concise business picture, and provide recommendations/solutions.
This position involves collaborating with the broader Enterprise PMO function to provide specialist advice on project tools, templates that are built or being built. This includes overseeing the continuous improvement of a single-source visibility and a backlog of all initiative requests to maintain data integrity whilst promoting effective strategic planning. This role leads the the generation and reporting of KPIs, trends, key metrics, and recommendations relating to resource and demand profile, outcomes of quality assurance reviews (exception-based reporting), and key callouts/initiatives relating to PPM tool administration and PMF standards (as needed) to HOs/GMs in relevant governance forums. This role requires a strong understanding of Portfolio and Project Management principles and processes.

- Spearhead the development of a robust project delivery assurance framework and methodologies to maximise project delivery success.
- Lead the uplift, continuous improvement, and implementation of processes, tools, and templates relevant to the Enterprise Delivery Centre of Excellence function (e.g., resource management, quality assurance, minimum standards, and project delivery frameworks)
- Ensure a consistent approach when delivering change through standard methodology, tools, and templates underpinned by robust governance and control mechanisms.
- Lead thorough assessments of project feasibility, risk, and viability to optimise resource allocation and mitigate potential commercial impacts on a discrete number of high-value Post projects.
- Review ways and recommend solutions to reduce cost of program development and delivery.
- Manage the activities and initiatives of the Enterprise Delivery Centre of Excellence function within the P260.
- Monitor the adoption and adherence of Post26 office standards, tools, and templates through overseeing quality assurance reviews conducted on projects across portfolios.
About you
You are a strong communicator with the ability to liaise and influence people across all levels of the organisation. Your key stakeholders are the external workforce vendors and the Post26 Office Leadership Team including General Managers and HO’s involved in the Enterprise governance forums. As such it is critical you are comfortable interfacing with Business stakeholders, as well as technical counterparts, translating between the two. The PSO is a new function and not all roles & responsibilities are fully defined which is why it is critical to be able to work in a somewhat ambiguous environment. You will have a background working in large PMO teams as well as strong knowledge of Lean, Agile and traditional delivery methodologies.
You’ll also need
- Extensive background in successfully managing complex and multi-stream programs and portfolios of work using various methodologies.
- Proven ability in the EPMO/Corporate Strategy sphere with experience at a Senior or Supervisory level.
- Understanding of the commercial and planning requirements of a large digital organisation in relation to resource and demand management.
- Knowledgeable on the influence of governance structure(s), policies, and organisation culture on governance and reporting frameworks and processes.
- Experience in leading COEs specifically in project management (desirable)
- Strong knowledge in Portfolio and Project Management Office activities – including status reporting, benefits tracking, dependencies, sequencing.
