Help us deliver a better tomorrow

Australia Post is transforming the way we work across our operations network, with safety at the centre of everything we do. We’re looking for an experienced Safety Business Partner to partner with leaders across NSW and help uplift safety capability, culture and outcomes across a large, complex operational environment.

This is a true partnering role — focused on coaching leaders, embedding safety into everyday operations, and building capability so safety ownership sits firmly with the business.

About the opportunity

As a Safety Business Partner, you’ll work across a defined NSW geography within Network Operations, supporting leaders across processing, transport and first‑ and last‑mile operations.

Reporting to the Head of Safety & Wellbeing NSW/ACT, you’ll act as a trusted advisor, providing expert technical advice while constructively challenging decisions that don’t align with our safety strategy. You’ll play a key role in uplifting safety maturity, improving performance, and supporting the execution of both regional and national safety initiatives.

This role is hands‑on and operational — with strong site presence, autonomy across your patch, and the opportunity to influence real change where it matters most.

What you’ll deliver with us

  • Partner with operational leaders to plan and execute safety initiatives aligned to the Enterprise Safety strategy
  • Coach and influence leaders to take ownership of safety outcomes and embed strong safety leadership
  • Provide expert advice on WHS legislation, risk management, and control effectiveness
  • Support and lead complex incident investigations, ensuring quality outcomes and shared learning
  • Use safety data, insights and technology to identify trends and drive targeted improvements
  • Engage confidently with unions, HSRs, regulators and key internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to safety projects and innovation, including the use of digital tools and AI‑enabled solutions

About you

You’re a pragmatic, commercially minded safety professional who understands operational environments and knows how to influence through trust and credibility. You’re comfortable being on‑site, challenging constructively, and partnering closely with leaders to drive sustainable change.

You’ll also need

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in a senior safety specialist or safety partnering role within a large organisation
  • Experience working in unionised or industrial environments
  • Strong investigation capability, including complex incidents
  • Solid knowledge of WHS legislation and its practical application
  • Confidence influencing leaders outside your span of control
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including unions and HSRs
  • A practical mindset with the ability to translate data and insights into action
  • Tech‑savviness and openness to using digital tools and AI to improve safety outcomes
    • Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety (Certificate IV / Diploma or above)
    • Current driver’s licence

How we’ll deliver for you

  • Make a real impact on safety outcomes across one of Australia’s largest operational networks
  • Work in a true business partner role, not a compliance‑only function
  • Be part of a safety transformation journey with strong executive support
  • Supportive, inclusive team culture with flexibility where possible
