Procurement Manager

Babcock is seeking a dynamic Procurement Manager who can turn strategy into action and ensure our projects are delivered with commercial strength, operational efficiency, and uncompromising governance. This is a role for a leader who thrives on building high‑performing supplier partnerships, shaping procurement strategy, and driving outcomes that support both immediate project delivery and long‑term business success.

About the Role

As Procurement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in enabling successful project delivery by leading the execution of Babcock’s sourcing strategies, contract solutions, and supplier management activities. You will translate strategic direction into operational delivery, ensuring procurement remains a responsive, value‑adding function that mitigates risk, drives performance, and supports continuous improvement. Your work will span the full lifecycle of sourcing and contracting, from market analysis and supplier identification through to negotiation, execution, renewal, and close‑out, ensuring all outcomes align with project timelines, commercial objectives, and compliance requirements.

In this role, you will oversee supplier performance and maintain strong, long‑term partnerships that support Babcock’s operational needs. You will implement supplier relationship management frameworks that promote accountability, continuous improvement, and high‑quality delivery. You will also support Supplier Quality Management initiatives to ensure compliance with product safety, regulatory obligations, and project‑specific requirements. Your oversight will extend to financial liabilities, pricing structures, invoice discrepancies, and commercial frameworks that promote transparency and value for money.

You will work closely with Operations, Commercial, and Program Delivery teams to ensure procurement strategies are fully integrated with project plans and organisational policies. You will design and refine procurement processes, templates, and tools to support consistent and efficient contract delivery across the business. A key part of your role will also involve identifying and managing commercial, operational, and safety risks associated with supplier engagements, ensuring all procurement activities comply with Australasian legal standards, internal governance, and industry regulations.

As a leader, you will manage and develop a team of procurement professionals, providing coaching, performance feedback, and support for professional growth. You will address performance issues where required, support recruitment and onboarding, and contribute to broader employee lifecycle activities. You will also lead initiatives that improve sourcing, contracting, and supplier management processes, and provide analysis and reporting that informs decision‑making and drives continuous improvement across the procurement function.

About You

You are an experienced procurement professional with a strong background in managing end‑to‑end sourcing processes in complex or project‑based environments. You bring a deep understanding of market analysis, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract formation, and you are confident in your ability to deliver commercially sound outcomes that support both project delivery and organisational strategy. You have a proven ability to implement and manage supplier performance frameworks, resolve delivery or compliance issues, and drive continuous improvement in supplier outcomes.

Your experience includes identifying, assessing, and managing commercial and contractual risks, supported by a solid understanding of legal and regulatory requirements relevant to procurement and contract execution. You hold relevant qualifications in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Finance, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline, or you bring equivalent experience that demonstrates similar competencies. Professional membership with bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or the Australian Supply Chain Institute is highly regarded.

You are a collaborative leader who communicates clearly, builds strong relationships, and brings a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset to every challenge. You are committed to embedding the Babcock Principles into your work, ensuring compliance with HSE and Trade Controls requirements, and contributing to a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
