Senior Engineering Technician (Supportability)
About the role
Reporting to the Dynamic Survey Team Manager, the Senior Engineering Technician (Supportability) will work within the Dynamic Survey team and liaise with RNZN fleet personnel to maintain and/or improve the reliability of rotating equipment and meet desired facility performance goals. They will conduct analysis and report on the condition of rotating process equipment to proactively spot component, equipment, and system problems and suggest appropriate solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting RNZN’s vibration and thermography program, including technical standards, equipment, training, and investigations
- Manage vibration, thermography based predictive maintenance programmes including on-site (on-shipboard) data collection, analysis and determination of equipment condition and maintenance actions for the customer.
- Conduct investigations to understand the key factors influencing the reliability and availability of poorly performing systems where vibration and thermography may be a factor.
- Conduct sea trials as needed or in accordance with repair plans to collect vibration or thermographic data.
- Provide technical support to ship staff to carry out vibration measurement. Educating ships staff in the benefits of condition monitoring based maintenance strategies.
- Maintain and upkeep of Condition Monitoring Equipment’s. Overseeing the installation of vibration related sensors and various hardware; System administrator for the vibration condition monitoring database and reporting systems.
About you
You’re an experienced and qualified Technician in a maintenance delivery, condition monitoring and asset reliability environment. Your in depth knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in critical machine assessment, fault finding vibration & temperature data collection, analysis, and reporting will allow you to fulfil the requirements of this role. You are fully and currently certified ISO VCAT1 or have experience in vibration analysis. Your ability to contribute to technical discussions, presentations and reviews will contribute to your success in this role.
